ERIA’s ongoing research projects fall under the following four major themes: deepening economic integration, narrowing development gaps, achieving sustainable economic development, and energy.
Due to the crucial role elected and appointed officials play in determining public expenditures, it is important for the park and recreation profession to understand how local government officials view and prioritize these services. To this end, NRPA partnered with Penn State researchers Dr. Andrew Mowen, Dr. Austin Barrett and Dr. Alan Graefe to conduct a nationwide study of local government elected and appointed officials. A total of 865 officials, from all 55 states, responded to the survey conducted during the spring of 7567. Their responses are the basis of this report.
The Online Writing Lab (OWL) at Purdue University houses writing resources and instructional material, and we provide these as a free service of the Writing Lab at Purdue. Students, members of the community, and users worldwide will find information to assist with many writing projects. Earlier this year, I was given the opportunity to kick off the first meeting of the Universities UK Open Access Repositories Working Group with reflections on the UK open access repository landscape.
Access to parks increases one's level of physical activity, therefore parks are an important destination that should be easily accessible to all advocates. This report explores the obstacles limiting walkability to parks and identify the essential elements of a safe route to a park. Additionally, this report assesses the barriers to walkability, determines the key stakeholders responsible for creating safe routes to parks, identifies strategies on building awareness on the importance of walkability, and recognizes current initiatives on improving safe routes to parks. Our gender equity programs seek to address some of the known barriers to career progression. This is by no means the end of our work. Through the SAGE Athena SWAN pilot and other initiatives we will continue to find ways to increase diversity. At the same time we will put in place policies and practices that provide support to people of different ethnicities, genders, sexualities, age, and disabilities to feel included and to achieve their goals.
